Sober Living and Sober Apartments for Men from Palms and Rancho Park

Palms and Rancho Park sit right between two of Blackburn’s neighborhoods. Blackburn runs sober living in Cheviot Hills, Mar Vista, Venice and Mid City. The sober apartments are in West Los Angeles. Cheviot Hills is just over the hill from Rancho Park, Mar Vista is just west of Palms, and by road the trip is roughly 3 miles, an approximate figure. We do not have a home in Palms or Rancho Park. This page is for men from these two neighborhoods who want to stay close.

Apartment-dense Palms, quiet Rancho Park

Palms is one of the most densely built neighborhoods on the Westside, with about 42,259 residents (Los Angeles County redistricting data, 2020). Much of the housing is apartment buildings, home to students, people early in their careers and people who moved to Los Angeles for work. Rancho Park, just north across Pico, is the opposite in feel, with single-family streets and a large public golf course and park.

For men in early recovery, apartment living in Palms often means living alone or with roommates who drink. Nobody notices if you stop showing up. That is exactly the gap sober housing fills. Moving a mile or two into a Blackburn home keeps you in the neighborhood you know, near the same E Line stop and the same grocery store, but puts you in a house where the other men are sober and testing is real.

Men from Rancho Park tend to have a different story. Often it is a son living at home again after treatment, and a family that loves him but cannot be the house manager. A nearby sober living home gives everyone room, while dinner at home on Sunday stays easy.
