Sober Living and Sober Apartments for Men from Westwood and Century City

Westwood and Century City are a short trip from Blackburn, not a place where we have housing. We run sober living homes for men in Cheviot Hills, Mar Vista, Venice and Mid City, plus sober apartments in West Los Angeles. Cheviot Hills sits just south of Century City, and Mar Vista is roughly 5 miles by road from Westwood, an approximate figure. This page is for men from Westwood and Century City, including students and people who work there, who want sober housing close by.

A college town and an office district, side by side

Westwood is home to about 57,322 people, and Century City to about 13,616 (Los Angeles County redistricting data, 2020). They feel like two different places. Westwood is built around a large public university and its medical center, so much of the neighborhood is students, researchers, hospital staff and young workers living in shared apartments near campus. Century City is towers: law, finance, entertainment and corporate offices, with commuters arriving from across the region.

If you are a student

College is one of the hardest places to stay sober. Parties are part of the calendar, roommates change every year, and nobody is checking whether you made it home. Many men take a leave, get sober in treatment and then want to return to classes. Our sober living residents can attend local colleges, so school and a structured sober house can go together. Later, a furnished, month to month sober apartment can carry you through the rest of your degree on your own schedule.

If you work in Century City

Long hours, client dinners and a commute that eats the evening are common in the towers. Some men come to us after a stay in treatment with a job waiting for them. Living nearby on the Westside keeps the commute short, so there is time left for a meeting, a workout and sleep. Century City also draws long-distance commuters on routes like the Santa Clarita Transit Commuter Express and AVTA 786 from Palmdale. For a man in that situation, a sober home near work can turn a three hour round trip into a short ride.

For families and referring professionals

Many families of Westwood students live far away, sometimes out of state. You cannot drop by, so information matters more. Sober living families receive a weekly update from us. Tours of the homes can be virtual, which helps when you are not in Los Angeles. Our family support group is free, meets online every other Tuesday from 6 to 7 PM Pacific, and is led by a licensed therapist from Blackburn Clinical Services. Start on our families page.

Campus clinicians, therapists and employee assistance professionals can call to talk about a client before anything is decided. Provider updates come with sober living. See our treatment professionals page.
