Blackburn has no housing in Pacific Palisades. Our homes for men are in Venice, Mar Vista, Cheviot Hills and Mid City, and the sober apartments are in West Los Angeles. From the Palisades, Mar Vista is roughly 8 miles by road down the coast and through Santa Monica, an approximate figure. This page is for men from Pacific Palisades, including men whose lives were upended by the 2025 fire, who need a sober place to live nearby.

A community still rebuilding
Before the fire, Pacific Palisades was home to about 20,986 people (Los Angeles County redistricting data, 2020): a quiet neighborhood between the Santa Monica Mountains and the ocean, with hiking trails, a small village center and about three miles of coastline. On January 7, 2025, the Palisades Fire began, and by the time it was contained it had destroyed 6,831 structures (Pacific Palisades, Wikipedia).
Many Palisades families are still living somewhere else: with relatives, in short-term rentals, in other parts of the county. For a man in recovery, or a man whose drinking or drug use got worse after the fire, that upheaval is a serious risk. The routines that held things together are gone. The home group may have scattered. Insurance calls, permits and grief fill the days, and there is no familiar house to come back to at night.
Why a sober home nearby can help right now
Sober housing can be the stable place while everything else is temporary. A structured sober house, or a fully furnished sober apartment, means one less thing to figure out. You do not need to buy furniture you will replace when you rebuild, open utility accounts, or commit to a long stay. Our apartments are month to month, which fits a timeline that depends on permits and contractors.
Staying on the Westside also keeps you close. Venice and Mar Vista are a short drive from the Palisades, so you can meet the contractor, check on the lot, and see family who stayed nearby. At the end of the day, you come back to men who are also staying sober.
If you are not displaced, the reasons may be the familiar ones: a son returning from treatment, a man who needs distance from a crowd he knows too well, or a family that wants him close but not at home.
Getting between Pacific Palisades and our homes
- Metro 602. Runs along Sunset Boulevard from Pacific Palisades to Westwood (Metro).
- Big Blue Bus. Santa Monica’s bus system serves Pacific Palisades and connects it to Santa Monica, where the E Line and other routes continue toward our homes (Big Blue Bus, via Wikipedia).
By car, the usual route is Pacific Coast Highway or Sunset into Santa Monica. Conditions near the burn area can change, so check before you drive.

For families and referring professionals
Palisades families may be spread across several temporary addresses, which makes it hard to keep an eye on anyone. Sober living helps: the family of each resident gets a weekly update. Our free virtual family support group, led by a licensed therapist from Blackburn Clinical Services, meets every other Tuesday, 6 to 7 PM Pacific. You can join from wherever you are staying. Visit our families page.
Therapists, disaster case managers and treatment teams supporting a displaced client can call us to talk through housing and level of care. Provider updates come with sober living. If moving his things is part of the problem, we offer sober transport and sober companion support. See our treatment professionals page.
